Evaluation Question 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
To collect feedback from the audience after the second screening I set up several ways to collect comment on the music video. The ways I set up to collect audience feedback were from;
(*note* for privacy reasons I've blanked out parts of peoples names or photos)
Facebook.
-The feedback I get from Facebook will tell me peoples general ideas and feeling about my music video although it won't necessarily be target audience specific as anyone could respond, I can always pay attention to only my target audience to ensure the feedback is target audience specific.
Twitter.

-I thought the use of several social media websites would help me get a wider range of responses although I don't expect to get many if any responses from twitter due to my lack of followers so less people will be likely to be willing to respond.
Survey Monkey.
Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.
-The use of survey monkey allows me to show people my music video and give them questions to respond via the internet. Although it will be possible to get some responses from random people on the internet who haven't actually watched my music video I can always clear there responses if this happens.
Classmates.
-I asked several class members to watch my work then I asked them several questions to get there responses about my music video.
Classmates are really helpful to get feedback from as they are going though the same process and know what makes a good music video and what can be improved.
Heres a video to summarize what I have learnt and understood from audience feedback.
Here are examples of when I took audience feedback on board to change things.
Music video
From initial screening feedback I got an idea about what the audience thought and wanted from my music video I got quite a few comments ranging from what they thought was good and what they expected from the video.
One thing I listened to from the initial screening feedback was that in the initial cut the video cut from the garage to the car park and back again twice and I was told by the class that this really didn't look good and was confusing which is something I really worked on by the second screening which indeed made it look a lot better.
Another comment I really picked on by the audience feedback was that the performance looked enthusiastic and really fitted with the genre, which was good for several reasons one for being that the audience enjoyed the performance and two because it fitted with the genre well.
One of the other main comments I got was that the although the video was cut well and that the variety of shots fit together and showed match on action was that the shots in the chorus especially could be sped up to make it more exciting. This was something i worked on by the second screening too try and make the video more exciting for the audience.
From the second screening feedback I was told that the performance shots of the video looked really good but the narrative shots let it down this was essential as it told me what I needed to put my focus on.
Some comments I got from the audience was that the performance was really good and that the video flows well this was something I worked on from the initial screening feedback to make sure the video flowed well to make it more interesting to the audience which is what I achieved.
Other comments i got was that the narrative shots didn't show good composition and didn't show the more professional look that music videos usually show which was something a lot of people picked up on.
One last thing I got a lot of comments on was the actual narrative as the story line got mixed reviews from the audience some people understood it, others got confused and others didn't like the repetitiveness of the narrative shots. This really influenced what I went on to do as I understood I had to redo some if not all of the narrative to make sense.
Digipak and Magazine advert.
Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.
Digipak
From the initial feedback for the digipak I was told that the close up shots looked professional although I was also told they look more like an indie rock genre than an alternative rock genre. People expected the photos to be heavier so to speak and look more like they fitted in the rock genre than they did.
What I did from this feedback was I added in a couple more close ups which looked more like they belonged to a rock genre and made the background for these photos consistent with my blue colour scheme and made the background looked broken to fit more into the genre.
Other comments i got from the initial feedback were that the colour scheme I used was consistent and this was something I continued to develop through the construction progress.
There were several comments I didn't pay much attention to as several people had conflicted opinions compared to everyone else one of the comments I ignored was that there was too much variety in the shots this was due to the majority of people saying that the variety was a good thing so I chose to listen to the majority instead.
From the second feedback I was told that the digipak was really strong and that i had developed it really well with people struggling to find something wrong or something that could be improved with the digipak.
People had told me that the photo's had really good composition and looked professional which meant that I kept the same consistency as the previous screening.
I again disagreed with one piece of feedback I got this was a comment saying that the colour scheme didn't fit and was basic this I ignored due to everyone else liking the colour scheme.
From the audience feedback I got If I had to redo this digipak I wouldn't change anything due to the audience loving the digipak so I don't think I could have done a better job.
With the digipak I really took into account the audience feedback this was to create something the audience enjoyed and was convention to the genre.
Magazine advert.
From the initial feedback for my magazine advert I was suggested to do several things from my audience one of the bits of feedback I got was to add in a photo which was missing at this time though this piece of feedback was obvious I did ask for some suggestions about what the audience wanted to see.
Another piece of feedback I got was that I had too much font variety this is something I choose to ignore due to it only being picked up on by a couple of people and I personally thought it was ok. This and most of the other class members said that the font styles were appropriate and consistent and I chose like always to listen to the majority over the minor few.
From the second feedback I was told that the magazine advert was a lot weaker than the digipak and that the photo I chose didn't fit well with the photo's in the magazine advert and that the consistency is lost and that the photo itself didn't really fit with the genre.
The audience suggested using more close ups similar to the ones i used for the digipak this was really helpful as it gave me an incite into what the audience expected I took this feedback into account.

Second Screening and feedback.
For my second screening I added in the narrative though it was a bit rough and rushed and improved some of the cuts and edits to make the video flow better. Here is some feedback I got from selescted target audience about my music video.
What went well:
The performance shots were really good.
Lip syncing is synced well
The performance shots are cut together well.
The video flows well.
Performance shots show match on action.
What could be improved:
Narrative could be stronger,
More variety of angles in narrative shots
Composition of performance shots is less controlled.
Some narrative shots are out of focus.
Narrative is repetitive.
From this feedback it is clear there is still work that needs to be done and it is mostly aroun the narrative shots, It is clear that a whole reshoot of the narrative may be the est way to go because then I can rethink the location and frame the shots up better.

Construction Progress 3 and Feedback
I got feedback for the ancillary tasks from selected people in my class who fit the target audience exactly. These are some of the responses I got;
What was done well:
Editing of the images was done well and suited the genre.
Consistent color scheme
Images are appropriate and conventional,
Composition of the photo's is good
The fonts work well.
The digipak is creative.
The text is integrated well.
What could be improved:
The advert wasn't as powerful as the digipak so could be improved.
Using the same close ups theme for the advert to keep consistency.
Making the advert more like the digipak .
The digipak is now finalized as it is really strong however I will put more work into the magazine advert to bring it up to an appropriate level similar to the digipak.

Construction Progress 2

The current progression of my music video digipak and magazine advert.
The music video now has the narrative shots in and i'm now working it down an adding in final touches.
The digipak is currently four pages and will most likely be left like this because it looks quite good.
The magazine advert is currently still missing the photo but that is almost sorted out and added in.

Construction Progress and Feedback
The current progression of my digipak, magazine advert and music video.
After showing my current work to the rest of the class I got some feedback about what I did well and what could improve or suggestions to make it better.
The main things I seem to have done well are:
-The colour scheme I used is consistent and looks good.
-The digipak pictures look good and are edited nicely.
-The range of shot types in the digipak look good.
Things that I could improve or work on:
-Trying to transcend the professional look of my digipak pictures into the video and magazine advert.
-The digipak is not quite consistent with the music video, perhaps adding a more blue colour scheme or hue to the video may help with this.
-The poster looks a bit empty or needs a photo, which I'm currently working on doing.
